Cool Hand, Luc. Every bottle's a winner

We have a very nice story to herald 2015, so if you’re sitting comfortably we’ll begin at the start of school term last September, when we were telephoned by Mrs Jo Walker, head teacher of Merdon Junior School in Chandler’s Ford, Hampshire. Jo’s request was polite and clear. If her school were to run a design competition to highlight the importance of good hydration, would it be possible for us to recreate the winning pupil’s artwork on their water bottles?

We were delighted by Jo’s call. The issue of more individualistically designed bottles, ‘limited edition’ designs if you prefer, had interested us for some time. We realised their distinct appeal and added fund-raising value, not just for schools but also for any business, organisation or event seeking originality. When Jo’s call came we were ready to showcase.

So when the design of budding artist ten year old Luc Pearce, themed “with hydration comes concentration” was chosen as competition winner and with our assistance transposed onto 400 bottles for a delighted school, we were pleased to share the news. With the school’s encouragement the Southern Daily Echo arranged to visit the school to take photographs and publish a newspaper article, starring Luc of course, which you can read on our Facebook page.

Our instincts on ‘hand drawn’ bottles appear to be correct and have appeal. Now we’re keen to do more. So for those of you thinking along similar original lines as Jo Walker and her school, please take note, this is how it works:

Firstly we supplied Merdon Junior the print guide template for our 500ml Schoolbottle together with guidance enabling the graphics to be as close as possible to print-ready finalisation.

Working within those guidelines, Luc’s winning design once presented required our final adjustments only, saving valuable time and hassle.

One of those adjustments at the customer’s request was to reduce the number of colours in the design, to minimise print and origination costs without compromising appeal or originality.  This is a standard request among many customers supplying multi-coloured logos and a service we supply free of charge.

The final step or service, also supplied free, is a visual of the bottle with final artwork applied, to ensure that all is satisfactory before going to print - the green light for go and Luc’s pathway to early fame.

Whilst we can’t guarantee that all future competitions or customised requests will attract the attention of Luc’s bottles, we can certainly guarantee that we know how it’s done and would be delighted to help. So, if you are thinking of a similarly unique design or competition for your school, organisation or event just e-mail us (sales@ndaps.com) or like Jo, just ring us (01792 863331).

Footnote: We can't help adding that Merdon head teacher Mrs Jo Walker (pictured with Luc) made some very kind comments for the press. " I spoke with Schoolbottle supplier NDA Packaging who gave helpful encouragement and provided the print guidelines. Nothing was too much trouble and the service was excellent". Thank you too, Jo. It was a pleasure.
